Dr Javier Escudero received a 5-year MEng and then a PhD degree in telecommunications engineering from the University of Valladolid, Spain, in 2005 and 2010, respectively. Afterwards, he held a postdoctoral position at Plymouth University, UK, until 2013.He is currently a tenure-track faculty member (Chancellor’s Fellow) at the University of Edinburgh, UK. He is author of more than 30 full journal articles in the area of biomedical data processing. Dr Escudero received the Third Prize of the EMBS Student Paper Competition in 2007 and the award to the best Ph.D. thesis in healthcare technologies by the Spanish Organization of Telecommunications Engineers in 2010. His research interests include biomedical signal processing, multiway ecomposition, graph theory, and pattern recognition in clinical applications.
